Antifungal susceptibility testing of Candida isolates from PLHIV patients

چکیده
Introduction- There is a growing prevalence of fungal infections among immunocompromised patients, and there also concerning rise in resistance to commonly used antifungal medications. As result, drug susceptibility testing has become an invaluable tool for clinicians, specifically the treatment invasive cases where initial treatments have proven ineffective. Methodology- We conducted analysis patterns 62 Candida isolates derived from various infection sites cohort 165 PLHIV patients using broth macrodilution method. Results- A high was observed azole group with highest being Fluconazole (27%) followed by Voriconazole (14.5%) Itraconazole (12.9%). No recorded Amphotericin B Caspofungin. Discussion- Our findings indicate higher Fluconazole, non-albicans (NAC) species compared albicans. The presence cross-resistance between voriconazole matter concern. However, it important note that no instances were both Nevertheless, elevated minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) noted these agents. Conclusion- Routinely performing laboratories crucial due antifungals, especially group. This led emergence highly resistant more harmful species. Thanks availability standardised automated manual methods, conducting such tests accessible. Therefore, we strongly recommend routine ensure appropriate decisions patients.

Molecular identification and in-vitro antifungal susceptibility testing of Candida species isolated from patients with onychomycosis
Background and Purpose: Candida species are the most opportunistic fungi affecting the nails and resulting in onychomycosis. In this study, we identified and evaluated in-vitro susceptibility of the recovered isolates against fluconazole (FLC), voriconazole (VRC), and clotrimazole (CLT) using the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) M27-A3 document. Materials and Method...
متن کاملAntifungal susceptibility testing of Candida isolates from the Candida surveillance study.
Candida species are a common cause of nosocomial bloodstream infections. Recent surveillance has shown an increase in the relative proportion of infections caused by Candida glabrata, which has reduced susceptibility to fluconazole. We undertook sentinel surveillance with antifungal susceptibility testing to monitor the trends in the proportions of various Candida species causing invasive disea...

The frequency of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly by Candida species, has increased in recent years. Colonization by Candida species in respiratory tract in susceptible hosts may play an important role to precede disseminated candidiasis. This study was designed to identify Candida species from bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples and determination of antifungal sus...
